# Intro to Computer Science: Syllabus

## Grading

Homework is worth 30% of your grade, labs 20%, the midterm 20%, and the final project 30%.

## Late policy

Homework can be turned in up to 2 days late for a 10% penalty per day. Labs cannot be turned in late. Everyone gets one free extension of 3 days per semester.

## Final project

The final project is a game or app of your choice, built in Python. Project proposals are due October 30. The final project is due December 12, with presentations in class on December 15 and 16.

## Midterm

The midterm is on October 22, in class. It covers variables, conditionals, loops, functions, and lists.

## Office hours

Office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30pm in Room 214. Our school is in Berkeley, California, and Room 214 is in the portable building across the courtyard.

## AI tools policy

You may use AI tools to explain concepts and error messages. You may not use AI tools to write code for homework or the final project. If you use an AI tool, include a note saying how you used it.
